Born for the Open Road
The Zentrum pays special tribute to BMW's motorcycle heritage with a number of vintage models. See an R65 and R42, a K75, the new BMW R 1200C ("Cruiser") and several other classics. Inspect the motorcycle that won the famous Paris-Dakar endurance rally. Also, on special loan to the Zentrum, is the Amigo - the BMW that completed the treacherous 16,000-mile route from Alaska to the tip of Argentina.
The Zentrum also displays the Boxer, the legendary flat-twin engine, which was developed in the 1920s specifically for motorcycles. The principles behind the Boxer engine, with its excellent weight distribution and opposed-piston arrangement, still appear in BMW motorcycle engines today.
